Once there was a person, who was an avid hiker. He used to go on long hiking trips and used to enjoy it a lot. He would capture all the photos and scenaries on the way.
One day, he saw a hiking competition annoucement poster, where the winnder would get high visibility and rewards. He was so excited to see this announcement and decided to participate in it. From that day, he started waking up early and practice everyday. Now all the time, his mind was fixated on winning the competition.
With an ardent desire to win the competition, he started working on each aspects of it. He would review each of his steps meticulously. The overall process became so strenuous that over period of time, he used to get tired and frustrated. Over period of time, he lost his peace and hiking became a tiring process for him.
He started living in anxiety and lost all of his zeal for trekking. He started deteriorating and lost peace of mind.
There was a saint, who came to the village. On hearing this, he went to saint and told his problems.
Saint said, “You were doing hiking because you were enjoying the journey, now you’re fixated on the result instead of enjoying the journey and that’s the cause of all of your problems/anxiety. Enjoy the journey, stay in the flow, don’t strive for results, results will follow. And even if there is no result, at least you had the fun."
